Wayne Rooney cautions that Lionel Messi won’t have it easy in America.
Lionel Messi has been cautioned by former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney not to anticipate an easy ride after moving to the US to join Major League Soccer (MLS) club, Inter Miami.
Messi said last week that he had signed a free-agent contract with Inter Miami and would be shunning his old team Barcelona.
Rooney, the manager of DC United at the moment, is hopeful that the 35-year-old’s MLS debut will take place against his team.
On July 8, Inter Miami will play DC United in Washington.
According to Rooney, it would be excellent if we were his first opponents so that Washington supporters could see him up close and for us to test our mettle against him.
“One thing I will say is that he won’t have an easy time of it. The league is challenging, so I don’t think he’ll come here and start destroying it right away.
It will be difficult for him to adjust because it is a little different.
