With Victor Osimhen’s £111 million price tag, Chelsea is “out of race to sign” and is now pursuing Nigerian striker Samu Omorodion, who was born in Spain.
Chelsea, a Premier League team, has reportedly withdrawn from the competition to acquire Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli in favor of Nigerian striker Samu Omorodion, who was born in Spain.
Omorodion, who is expected to cost the Blues a cool £30 million despite scoring just nine goals from 35 La Liga appearances during a loan stay with Alaves, is the subject of ongoing talks between Chelsea and Atletico Madrid, according to Mail Sport.
Osimhen had been strongly linked to Chelsea in recent transfer windows, with a cash plus Romelu Lukaku exchange being discussed. But Osimhen’s £111 million release clause has complicated the closing of the deal.
Osimhen has moved on from Chelsea, according to Sky Italy, which means Arsenal may now pursue a bid for the Nigerian shooter.
Osimhen, who has 76 goals in 133 games for Napoli, is reportedly attracting interest from the Gunners, Paris Saint-Germain, and Saudi Arabian clubs.
Under new manager Antonio Conte, the 25-year-old has not appeared in a single preseason match for Napoli.
Just a year after paying £105 million to acquire Declan Rice, an attacking midfielder, Arsenal would break their own transfer fee record should they activate Osimhen’s release clause.
