Zamfara Governor Gives ₦100 Million To Flood Victims in Maiduguri
Governor Dauda Lawal has sent his sympathies to the Borno State administration and people in the wake of the terrible flood in Maiduguri.
A team led by Mallam Abubakar Nakwada, the secretary to the Zamfara State Government, represented the governor on Thursday in Maiduguri.
Sulaiman Idris, the governor of Zamfara’s spokesperson, stated in a statement that the visit was made to express sympathy to the Borno administration for the devastating flooding that has just occurred.
At the Borno State Government House, Mallam Abubakar Nakwada conveyed Governor Lawal’s message of goodwill and announced the Zamfara State Government’s donation of ₦100m as a show of support and unity.
“I write to express our deepest sympathy for the recent devastating flood resulting from the overflow of water from the Alu Dam in Maiduguri,” the governor remarked on behalf of the people and government of Zamfara State.
“We are deeply disturbed to learn that this tragic incident has resulted in the displacement of over a million people.
“This tragedy’s scope is incredibly heartbreaking. Our brothers and sisters in the devastated families and communities are in our thoughts and prayers during these trying times, as are the people of Zamfara State, who have recently experienced similar tragedies, albeit on a much smaller scale. We ask the Almighty Allah to provide Jannah to the deceased and to richly reward the bereaved with their possessions and means of subsistence.
“The Government of Zamfara State is contributing N100,000,000 (one hundred million naira) to support the relief operations and help the impacted communities in Maiduguri as a show of solidarity and support.
“May Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala provide the sufferers more support and give them the fortitude and fortitude to start again in their new lives.
