Investigation N585.18 million: Former minister Sadiya Farouq visits the EFCC office
Sadiya Umar-Farouq, the former minister of social development, disaster management, and humanitarian affairs, has come to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) headquarters to provide information about her stewardship.
Umar-Farouq showed up to the EFCC headquarters in response to the organization’s invitation to provide clarifications regarding certain matters under investigation by the Commission.
The former minister had already said she was willing to accept the invitation from the Commission.
As a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Umar-Farouq was reported as saying, “I remain proud to have served my country with every sense of responsibility and will defend my actions, stewardship, and programs during my tenure whenever I am called upon to do so.”
The EFCC is looking into allegations of money laundering totaling over N30 billion in organizations under the supervision of her ministry during the presidency of Muhammadu Buhari.
