Ebonyi State New Commissioner of Police Pledges Safety and Security
Ebonyi State’s newly appointed Commissioner of Police, Anthonia Uche-Anya, has vowed to prioritize the safety of lives and property while enforcing law and order. Upon resuming office in Abakaliki, the state capital, Uche-Anya was warmly welcomed, inspected a guard of honor, and held her first strategic meeting with top commanders.
Addressing the press at the Police Headquarters, Uche-Anya expressed her commitment to collaborating with all relevant stakeholders, including sister security agencies, to fulfill her mandate. Her appointment, following the promotion of Augustina Ogbodo to Assistant Inspector-General of Police, marks her as the 27th Commissioner of Police in Ebonyi State.
“Our mission is clear: to ensure that people and property in Ebonyi are safe. I call on all relevant parties to work together to maintain law and order. Security is a shared responsibility, and by leveraging the combined strengths of various security agencies, we can ensure the protection of lives and property,” she said.
Anthonia Uche-Anya comes into her new role with impressive credentials, including master’s degrees in strategic studies, Security, and Law. She is a fellow of the National Defence College and a member of several professional bodies, making her well-prepared to tackle the challenges of her new position.
Prior to her appointment, Uche-Anya served as the Deputy Commissioner of Police Administration at the Force Intelligence Department in Abuja, and she has held several leadership roles across different police commands throughout Nigeria.
