Bank MD arraigned over alleged N19m, $30,000 fraud

The Abuja Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arraigned the Managing Director of Viscount Microfinance Bank, Blessing Gozi-Anyaokei, implicit allegations of unlawful conversion of concern funds amounting to N19 cardinal and $30,000.

Gozi-Anyaokei was brought earlier Justice Y. Halilu of the Federal High Court, Maitama, Abuja, connected a two-count complaint bordering connected alleged amerciable conversion and obtaining wealth nether mendacious pretence.

According to a connection issued connected Thursday by EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, the suspect allegedly received N19 cardinal from 1 Ernest Terkula Jor successful 2022 for concern purposes portion serving arsenic the Managing Director of the bank.

The anti-graft bureau accused her of diverting the funds for idiosyncratic use, contrary to the provisions of the Penal Code Act.

In the 2nd charge, the EFCC alleged that she besides received $30,000 from the aforesaid idiosyncratic for concern purposes but dishonestly converted the wealth for her idiosyncratic benefit.

The committee stated that the alleged offences contravene Section 311 of the Penal Code Act Cap 532, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria (Abuja) 1990, and are punishable nether Section 312 of the aforesaid Act.
