Court hears Dasuki, co-defendants made statements without coercion

A prosecution witnesser has told the Federal Capital Territory High Court that erstwhile National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, and his co-defendants made their statements to investigators without coercion.

Testifying earlier Justice Charles Agbaza, the 3rd prosecution witness, Salihu Kadiri, said the defendants gave their extrajudicial statements “voluntarily and nether caution” during a trial-within-trial.

Dasuki is being prosecuted alongside Aminu Baba Kusa, Acacia Holdings Limited, and Reliance Referral Hospital Limited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) implicit an alleged N33.2 cardinal fraud involving breach of spot and dishonesty.

The tribunal had ordered the mini-trial pursuing objections by defence lawyers, who argued that their clients’ statements were not made voluntarily and truthful violated provisions of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act.

Led successful grounds by prosecution counsel, Rotimi Jacobs, SAN, Kadiri told the tribunal “The suspect made his connection voluntarily aft words of caution were work to him.”

Under cross-examination by defence counsel Solomon Umoh (SAN), the witnesser confirmed that records existed showing visits by unit of Acacia Holdings Limited portion the defendants were successful EFCC custody.
