Court remands three men over an alleged armed robbery

Three males, Abdullahi Alimi, 44, Oladipupo Fagbe, 43, and Rasaq Alimi, 21, were remanded in custody on Friday by an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for an alleged armed robbery.

The Magistrate, Mrs. A. Akinyemi, who rejected the defendants’ pleas, ruled that the case file should be given to the DPP for consultation.

For the DPP’s response, Akinyemi postponed the case to July 26.

The defendants are accused of conspiracy, theft, receiving stolen property, and robbery on four counts.

Earlier, DSP Chinalu Nwadione, the prosecution, informed the court that the defendants and some other fugitive individuals committed the crimes on April 13 along Ogba Road in Agege, Lagos.

According to Nwadione, the defendants used knives to rob the complainant, Mr. Musa Ganiyu, of his N20,000.

Additionally, he claimed that 504 boxes of origin bitters, worth N4.5 million and belonging to Fafem Haulage Nigeria Ltd., were stolen by the defendants.

Nwadione claimed that five cartons of origin bitters, valued at N45,000 and believed to be stolen property, were illegally in the defendants’ hands.

According to the prosecutor, the offenses violated Sections 411, 297, 287, and 329 of the Lagos State Criminal Law from 2015.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Section 287 mandates a three-year prison sentence for theft and Section 411 a two-year sentence for conspiracy.
