A Federal High Court successful Lagos volition connected May 8, 2026 regularisation connected a petition by erstwhile Niger State Governor Muazu Babangida Aliyu and his co-accused, Umar Muhammed Nasko, asking the tribunal to disregard the N1.5 cardinal fraud lawsuit against them.

The lawsuit follows a ailment filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Faruk Abdallah represented the anti-corruption agency, portion Y. Kalamu appeared for Aliyu. Mamman Mike Ousman, SAN, represented Nasko.
Both men are facing 8 charges, including conspiracy and wealth laundering totalling N1,509,791,200.
While opposing the petition to disregard the case, EFCC counsel Abdallah reminded the tribunal that the defendants were archetypal arraigned connected April 28, 2017.
He said the prosecution presented 11 witnesses and tendered respective documents earlier closing its case.
He explained that Aliyu filed his written exertion connected December 18, 2025, and that the EFCC had submitted its response.
On Nasko’s application, Abdallah told the court: “At the adjacent of the prosecution’s case, the 2nd suspect besides opted to marque a no-case submission.”
He added that Nasko filed his written petition connected November 23, 2025.
