Doctors in Uyo declare indefinite strike over alleged assault of medical staff by EFFC at UUTH

The Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, successful Akwa Ibom State person declared an indefinite onslaught pursuing the alleged assault, apprehension and detention of aesculapian unit by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, astatine the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, UUTH.

The determination was reached during an exigency legislature of the relation on Tuesday in Uyo.

According to the NMA, the incidental occurred aft EFCC operatives reportedly stormed the infirmary premises during an operation, starring to the alleged battle and apprehension of immoderate doctors, including Professor Eyo Ekpe, Deputy Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee astatine UUTH.

In a communiqué signed by the authorities NMA Chairman, Professor Aniekan Peter, and Secretary, Dr Ighorodje Edesiri, the relation condemned the incident, describing it arsenic a usurpation of the sanctity of the infirmary environment.

“We condemn successful beardown presumption the penetration of the infirmary and battle connected aesculapian unit by EFCC operatives,” the connection read.

The relation announced the contiguous and indefinite withdrawal of aesculapian services crossed the authorities until each detained members are released and their demands addressed.
