EFCC arraigns three over alleged N42m contract fraud in Maiduguri

The Maiduguri Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arraigned 3 persons earlier the Federal High Court successful Maiduguri implicit an alleged N42 cardinal declaration fraud.

The defendants, Aisha Alkali Wakil, Sa’idu Tahiru Daura and Prince Lawal Shoyede,  were arraigned connected Thursday earlier Justice Jude K. Dagat connected a two-count amended complaint bordering connected obtaining wealth by mendacious pretence.

According to the EFCC, the defendants allegedly obtained N42 cardinal from ABAKS Ventures Nigeria Limited nether the guise of executing a purported sub-leased declaration linked to Complete Care and Aid Foundation, a non-governmental organisation.

The anti-graft bureau alleged that the defendants falsely claimed the declaration had been awarded to 1 Sani M. Adamu of Sani Smart Global Ventures.

During the proceedings, Wakil and Shoyede pleaded not blameworthy to the charges, portion Daura pleaded guilty.

Following the pleas, prosecution counsel, N.T. Iko, asked the tribunal to condemnation Daura accordingly and sought an adjournment to commence proceedings against the different 2 defendants.

Justice Dagat subsequently adjourned the substance until June 25, 2026, for sentencing and commencement of trial.
