Ekiti court jails three for 97 years over kidnapping, armed robbery

An Ekiti State High Court sitting successful Ado Ekiti has convicted 3 individuals for kidnapping, equipped robbery, and unlawful possession of weapons, sentencing them to a combined 97 years successful situation without the enactment of a fine.

The convicts; Augustine Agbogbo, Adeniyi Olamilekan, and Ademoh Gabriel, were handed jailhouse presumption of 40, 25, and 32 years respectively.

However, the tribunal discharged and acquitted 3 different defendants; Ogungbemi Gbenga, Monday Rakiya, and Oseni Mutairu, aft ruling that the prosecution failed to found the charges against them beyond tenable doubt.

The six defendants were initially arraigned earlier Justice Adeniyi Familoni connected August 11, 2023, connected a six-count complaint that included conspiracy, kidnapping, equipped robbery, and amerciable possession of violative weapons.

According to the prosecution, the offences were committed astatine antithetic locations crossed Ekiti State.

The accused were alleged to person conspired to rob 1 Ajibade Adeleke of N15,000 successful Ayede connected June 6, 2022.
