The Federal Ministry of Environment has dispatched a specialized team to Borno State to help reduce the impact of recent floods that ravaged the region. Experts from key departments, including Pollution Control, Erosion Management, and Watershed Projects, will assess water quality, prevent waterborne diseases, and support recovery efforts.
Minister Balarabe Lawal announced the deployment, emphasizing the need for coordinated efforts to prevent future disasters. The team will continuously monitor water sources, distribute chlorine to purify water, and promote hygiene practices through educational materials.
In collaboration with the Borno State Government, the ministry will also develop long-term flood mitigation strategies and work with international partners to improve climate resilience.
