From London, President Tinubu returns to Nigeria

On Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu traveled from London, United Kingdom, to Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport. He arrived at precisely 5:13 o’clock.

He was welcomed by APC leaders and supporters, including Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, Femi Gbajabiamila, the chief of staff to the president, Olukayode Egbetokun, the acting inspector general of police, Nuhu Ribadu, and senators and representatives from Lagos State.

The ex-governor of Lagos State from May 1999 to 2007 was also greeted by colorful Nigerian Army and Nigerian Navy personnel as his convoy traveled from Ikeja to his private property in Bourdillon, Ikoyi.

After being sworn in as Nigeria’s new president on May 29, 2023, the President traveled abroad for the first time in official capacity on June 22, 2023.

Alongside other world leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron, Tinubu was in Paris, France, for the meeting on the New Global Financial Pact, which took place at the Palais Brongniart.

The President traveled to London, United Kingdom, for a “short private visit” after the two-day conference, according to a statement from his spokesperson, Dele Alake, last Saturday. This may be a signal that the President would return to Nigeria for the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations on June 28 and 29, 2023.

The President expressed his gratitude to Nigerians for their warm welcome in Lagos in a statement upon his arrival.

During the Eid-el-Kabir festivities, Tinubu sent his best wishes to all Nigerians.

On Wednesday, Tinubu will attend the Eid prayers alongside other devout Muslims at the Obalende Eid Prayer Ground, which is situated near the Dodan Barracks, the former location of the Nigerian government.
