“I Did Not Get a Free Hearing,” Senator from Bauchi Disapproves of Title Withdrawal
Shehu Buba, the senator for the Bauchi South Senatorial District, has taken issue with the emirate council’s decision to revoke his Mujaddadin Bauchi title.
Buba’s chieftaincy was taken away by the council on Thursday for reportedly making disparaging remarks about Bala Mohammed, the state governor. During the state’s All Progressives Congress (APC) LG electioneering campaign launch, the lawmaker criticized Mohammed’s policies.
According to Buba, the governor has made Bauchi’s poverty index worse. She also stated that states’ allotted resources must be held accountable.
expressed amazement at the emirate’s decision to deprive him of the chieftaincy title in a letter to the emir of Bauchi.
The Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence Chairman, Buba, expressed sorrow that the Bauchi Emirate Council abruptly ended the subject without giving him a fair hearing.
“He expressed hope that Bauchi state will be rescued from the unfortunate situation and accepted the decision in good faith.”
In his defense, the senator covered a number of topics, such as disputing Governor Mohammed’s allegations of mistreatment by the Tinubu administration, charging the governor of Bauchi State with mismanagement and abuse of his position, and emphasizing that Governor Bala had received sizeable financial allocations from the Federation Account, raising concerns about the use of these funds in light of the state’s alleged financial difficulties.
Additionally, Senator Buba counseled the Emirate Council to stay out of political controversies and to keep its traditional responsibilities in mind.
He finished, saying, “I pray for the Emir of Bauchi’s long reign in good health and for his effective leadership of the Emirate.”
