ICPC files amended nine-count charge against El-Rufai

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has filed an amended nine-count complaint against erstwhile Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, alleging fraud, maltreatment of bureau and corruption.

Counsel for the erstwhile governor, Ukpong Abang, told journalists aft proceedings astatine the Kaduna State High Court connected Monday that the prosecution had dropped 1 of the earlier defendants, leaving El-Rufai arsenic the sole accused.

The tribunal took the erstwhile governor’s plea and heard his bail application, but Abang explained that the defence could not proceed due to the fact that the amended charges were served connected Monday.

He explained that the defence would analyse the charges earlier taking further steps. The tribunal adjourned the lawsuit to Tuesday, April 14, for a ruling connected the bail application.

In the complaint marked KDH/KAD/ICPC/01/2026, the ICPC alleges that El-Rufai committed aggregate offences during his tenure arsenic governor, including alleged N11 cardinal obstruction fraud and a $1 cardinal indebtedness breach.
