In a joint appearance, an energized Biden and Harris tout party unity.
On Thursday, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris had their first combined public engagement since Harris unseated the president as the Democratic nominee in November’s election, displaying a positive display of togetherness.
Thank you Joe chants erupted from the audience at a community college in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, DC.
As he claimed responsibility for a significant agreement to lower prescription drug costs for pensioners on social welfare programs, Biden was praised.
The biggest star, though, was Biden’s vice president, who, since entering the race abruptly, has brought the Democratic Party together and risen to the top of the polls against Republican Donald Trump.
Speaking of Harris, Biden remarked, “She can make one hell of a president.”
On August 15, 2024, US President Joe Biden observes as Democratic presidential candidate and vice president Kamala Harris talks at Prince George’s Community College in Largo, Maryland.
A few hours before Trump was scheduled to give a press conference at his golf club in New Jersey, the two made their united appearance.
Since Biden withdrew from the race on July 21, the real estate magnate and scandal-plagued former president has found it difficult to refocus his campaign in response to Democratic worries that he was too old to serve as president.
Up until then, Trump’s lead in the polls had been steadily increasing, mostly due to his claim that Biden was becoming less mentally sharp. This accusation gained traction after the president made a huge mistake during a nationally televised presidential debate.
Currently, Harris, 59, is gaining ground on Trump, 78, in the race.
Furthermore, Biden seems revitalized as he embraces the position of mentor passing the baton to his protégé at the lame duck conclusion of his four-year term.
During his address, Biden made fun of Republicans by joking that the Democrats wanted to “beat the hell out of” them and calling Trump “Donald Dump” or “Don whatever.”

Harris, who is expected to be named the Democratic nominee at the party convention in Chicago the following week, demonstrated her vice presidential reverence by saying nothing at all and emphasizing how honored she is to work for the “most extraordinary human being.”
To applause, she remarked, “There’s a lot of love in this room for our president.”

The size and timing of the agreement, which the White House claims will save the Medicare federal health insurance program $6 billion in the first year and older Americans $1.5 billion, is favorable to Harris in an election where the rising cost of living is a key concern.
Harris referred to the talks with pharmaceutical corporations as “historic” and “life-changing” in a statement.
Despite already astronomical insurance rates, Americans pay the highest prescription drug prices in the world, forcing many to cover a portion of the cost out of their own pockets.
Harris will unveil the specifics of her economic policy for the first time on Friday.
The first female Black and South Asian vice president of the United States is anticipated to primarily adhere to Biden’s economic platform while making an effort to set herself apart and prevent electorate backlash over the post-pandemic spike in inflation.
Harris wants to “break with Biden on issues on which he’s unpopular,” with rising costs at the top of the list, according to an Axios story published on Wednesday.
Although Harris is more trusted by voters on the economy—42 to 41 percent—than Trump is, despite Trump’s historical lead in this area according to a recent Financial Times and University of Michigan poll.
Having escaped an attempted assassination on July 13, Trump is currently the oldest presidential candidate in US history.
He did not specify the subject of his press conference scheduled for New Jersey. He strayed from prepared statements about the economy in a speech on Wednesday, repeatedly calling Biden a “stupid” and Harris a “crazy person.” He also referred to Harris’s running mate, Tim Walz, as a “clown.”
