In Jigawa, an APC/PDP clash results in one death and five arrests.
One person was killed and five others were arrested in Jigawa State after a violent clash between supporters of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The incident occurred on Friday during a rally held by PDP governorship candidate Mustafa Sule Lamido in Maigatari Local Government Area (LGA). As they approached the APC Secretariat, tensions rose and a fight erupted.
The victim, “Abdullahi Isiyaku, a 37-year-old man from Gangare Quarters in Maigatari town, was attacked by members of the PDP’s ‘Santuraki Vanguard,’” according to a police statement. He was rushed to Gumel General Hospital for treatment, but he died as a result of his injuries.”
The State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse is conducting a discreet investigation, according to the statement.
DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Jigawa State Command, stated that the situation is under control and that the police are working to bring the perpetrators to justice.
The incident has raised concerns about citizens’ safety and the possibility of further political tensions in the state.
The authorities are urging all political parties to avoid using violence and to encourage their supporters to do the same.
