The subordinate representing Dala Federal Constituency successful the House of Representatives, Aliyu Sani Madakin Gini, has defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing interior situation wrong the party.

Gini, who is the Deputy Minority Leader of the House, announced his resignation successful a missive dated March 10, 2026, addressed to the NNPP president of Yalwa Ward successful Dala Local Government Area of Kano State.

Madakin Gini had antecedently distanced himself from the Kwankwasiyya movement, including abandoning the reddish headdress associated with the radical but maintained his rank of the NNPP.

He attributed his defection to divisions wrong the NNPP, stating that the enactment had divided into factions loyal to its founder, Boniface Aniebonam, and erstwhile Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, with parallel enactment structures from ward to nationalist level.
