Lawan commends Tinubu and the APC on their victory

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kashim Shettima, the president-elect and vice president-elect, respectively, have received congratulations from Senate President Ahmad Lawan on their victories.

Ola Awoniyi, his Special Adviser for Media, issued a statement in Abuja in which Lawan said that the Tinubu/Shettima victory demonstrated Nigerians’ confidence in the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidates.

He promised that until the end of its term on June 11, 2023, the Ninth National Assembly would cooperate and support the transition efforts in full.

“I congratulate President-elect His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President-elect His Excellency Kashim Shettima on their tremendous victory in the Presidential Election on Saturday,” Lawan stated.

The All Progressives Congress (APC), our followers in Nigeria, and advocates of democracy throughout the world will relish this win for a very long time because the election was fiercely contested on all fronts.

“This victory reaffirms Nigerians’ faith in our outstanding party, the APC, and its candidates. But, it is also a challenge for us to maintain Nigeria’s progressive development while adhering to our party’s agenda.

“The Agenda and the Renewed Hope Contract that you, our flag bearers, offered during the campaigns have received the unmistakable endorsement of Nigerians, as seen by their votes. We are convinced that you will competently and faithfully carry out the terms of the Compact given your stellar track records in public service. The results of the election represent the Nigerian people’s endorsement of the APC government’s eight-year success under President Muhammadu Buhari’s leadership.

I applaud President Buhari for preserving trust in our Party. Additionally, we are proud of his statesmanship in upholding the independence of the Independent National Electoral Commission and ensuring that all candidates had an equal chance to compete (INEC).

“I also want to congratulate the APC, our wonderful Party, on its election triumph. I celebrate the election victory of my fellow senators and honorable members of the House of Representatives with them.

“I want to reassure the President-elect that the Ninth National Assembly will fully cooperate with and assist the transition process until the conclusion of our term on June 11, 2023.

“I am also certain that the 10th Assembly will offer the incoming Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration the same level of collaboration and assistance in order to carry out its mission to the Nigerian people.
