Police arrest 119 suspected criminals in two months in Edo

The Edo State Police Command says it arrested 119 suspects for assorted transgression activities betwixt March and April 2026.

DAILY POST reports that the Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, disclosed this on Tuesday in Benin City astatine a property league and motorboat of the Violent Crime Response Unit, VCRU.

Agbonika said the suspects were arrested successful transportation with kidnappings, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence, cultism, equipped robbery, murder, unlawful possession of firearms and rape/defilement.

He besides disclosed that 58 kidnapped suspects were rescued wrong the period.

He gave the breakdown of the arrested suspects to see 55 kidnappers, 15 cultists, 8 equipped robbers and 15 execution suspects. According to him, 23 persons were arrested for rape and defilement.

The CP besides disclosed that 2 AK-47 rifles, six pump-action guns, 7 locally-made firearms, 13 cartridges and different calibre of  ammunition were recovered from the  suspects wrong the period.
