Reps speakership: Tinubu and Betara have a private meeting at Defence House
The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations, Hon. Muktar Aliyu Betara, appeared to have gained some unspoken support from President-elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his bid to become speaker of the 10th National Assembly.
The support came as a result of a special attention given to Betara, who visited Tinubu at the Defence House in Abuja on Wednesday morning after his arrival from France on Monday to discuss his plans.
Tinubu personally held Betara’s hand and led him into the inner room for private discussions after spotting the lawmaker among the President-elect of the Senate, Sen. Ahmad Lawan, former Ekiti State governor Kayode Fayemi, and a host of other supporters of the President-elect who had come to pay their respects.
As previously reported by Vanguard, Betara, a federal legislator for Borno State’s Biu/Bayo/Shani and Kwaya Kusar federal district, is one of the ten representatives running for Speaker of the incoming 10th House.
He has been urging members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the current House members-elect, previous politicians, and really all the stakeholders to support him, and many of them have done so.
