Rivers Illegal Refinery is destroyed by the Navy

In the waters of Rivers State’s Degema Local Government Area, an illegal refining plant was destroyed by the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Pathfinder’s operations.

Commodore Desmond Igbo, the Commander of the NNS Pathfinder, gave journalists a tour of the facility on Wednesday and estimated that the refinery could hold more than a million liters.

The operation’s scope was described by the Commander, who claimed that crude is being stolen from the wellhead and placed in an illegal reservoir.

This is NNPC OML-18, which is overseen by Sahara and NNPC. The hose that these thieves rigged over there is over eighteen inches away from the oil well head, as you can see. From there, they rigged it,” Igbo said.

You can observe the crude running to their illegally built refinery, where they cook it, and their reservoir. The Nigerian economy is being sabotaged economically by this.

He added that no arrests have been made thus far and that the Nigerian Navy was asking the community for help in combating the threat.

Igbo bemoaned the involvement of young people in the illicit oil bunkering and advised the local authorities and paramount chiefs to discipline their youth.

They fled when our gunboats approached. However, we will continue to track them and the people who are funding them.
