Strict Security During National Protest Gathering of SSANU and NASU in Abuja

For a nationwide demonstration, members of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities (SANU) and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) have gathered at the Unity Fountain.

A small number of demonstrators have already entered the Unity Fountain’s grounds, but security personnel have barred others from entering.

Following some agitation on the part of the demonstrators, the gate was left open, and they are now using their vehicles to obstruct the Unity Fountain’s entry.

Among other things, the demonstrators want the 2010 agreement with the Federal Government to be renegotiated and the payment of their salaries that have been withheld for the past four months.
