Taraba Guber: The court upholds Emmanuel Bwacha’s candidacy for the APC

Senator Emmanuel Bwacha will run for governor of Taraba state on March 18 after being officially recognized as a candidate by the Federal High Court sitting in Jalingo, Taraba state.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reportedly declined to recognize Senator Emmanuel Bwacha as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the upcoming governorship election, as reported by Naija News.

At first, the electoral body claimed that the senator had not been legitimately chosen as a candidate for governor during the party’s primary.

The APC prevailed in court, but the case dragged on until the Supreme Court was involved. The Supreme Court ordered the APC to hold a brand-new primary, which the party did.

Thank goodness, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha won the primary once more. However, there were worries that INEC would remove the senator from its website or ballots.

In order to stop INEC from removing the governorship candidate from the ballot, APC had to take the electoral body to court once more.

Judge Bala Usman of the Federal High Court in Jalingo ruled on the APC’s request that INEC refrain from removing its candidate from its portal or ballot paper prior to the March 18 governorship election, and in his decision on Thursday, he upheld Bwacha’s candidacy.
