We want Tinubu to surpass Buhari, according to Yahaya Bello, who claims INEC adhered to the electoral rules.

Yahaya Bello, the governor of Kogi State, has defended the announcement of Bola Tinubu, the candidate of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the victor amidst a torrent of critiques of last Saturday’s presidential elections.

Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, the second and third-place finishers for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP), respectively, are among those who have questioned the findings.

“The National Assembly and presidential elections of 2023 are over. We have a president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to the glory of God, Bello declared on Friday during a live broadcast on Politics Today on Channels Television.

“There must be a winner and a loser in every competition. Of course, you cannot stop losers from airing their complaints and criticizing the system. There are flaws in every form of government and electioneering.

“But, let me assure you that, for the most part, INEC complied with their instructions and the game’s regulations. Today, our president-elect succeeded as president because he abided by all the laws and regulations.

He claimed that Nigerians needed to accept the fact that Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos, is now the country’s president-elect.

As much as he had backed President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, the governor said, he was willing to back Tinubu’s until it was successful.

Bello participated in the APC’s presidential primary on June 6, 2022, but she and the other 13 candidates were soundly defeated by Tinubu.

He will not, however, say whether he intends to run for office soon.

The Kogi governor was questioned about a potential bid that was approaching and responded, “The future belongs to God Almighty and only Almighty Allah has that decision to make for me as we move forward. Yet, I have a work to complete in Kogi State right now, and I have a responsibility to help my party.

Bello stated that he owes it to the president-elect to help him succeed and that allies like himself must counsel and direct him to make sure he succeeds after Buhari.

The 47-year-old governor declared, “Despite all of Mr. President’s accomplishments, we want Asiwaju to flourish and achieve even more than him, and that is even our leader, President Muhammadu Buhari.

Bello has some advise for the public in the wake of the elections, which elicited conflicting responses from different quarters, particularly Tinubu’s closest competitors.

“All I can say to my brothers and leaders, Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar, and the throngs of supporters is to calm down and let’s focus on Nigeria first. Let us coexist in harmony.

Let’s help Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu put his great programs and ideas, outlined in his blueprint, The Renewed Hope 2023, into action.

He stated, “Once you’re not satisfied – I’m happy they’re taking the legal and quite legitimate ways to seek redress, but we shouldn’t overheat the polity.
