Wike Charges PDP National Leadership With Anti-Party Activities

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national leadership telling lawyers managing legal actions on behalf of the PDP in the State to distance themselves from the lawsuits, according to Rivers State Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, is an act of anti-party.

In his remarks at the State School Premises, Okehi 1, site of the Rivers State PDP campaign flag-off event in the Etche Local Government Area on Monday, Governor Wike leveled the charge on the party’s national leadership.

However, Wike claims that the national leadership did not support the drive. The PDP in Rivers has sued some political parties in the state for breaking rules and laws of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the course of their various primaries.

According to him, the national leadership has requested that the attorneys handling the different legal proceedings withdraw their legal submissions rather than supporting the PDP’s lawsuits in Rivers State.

According to the governor of Rivers State, since the PDP national has started playing the anti-party game, it would receive anti-party in return.

“We’ve got them now. They are the ones waging anti-party campaigns. I warned them that anti-party behavior breeds anti-party behavior. You are aware that we sued these little parties (APC, SDP) for breaking the law.

“The persons in Abuja who claim to be nationals have gone to cooperate with them (opposition parties) to prepare a letter telling our lawyers to take a back seat, in an effort to scuttle the cases we filed,” one of them said. I’ve instructed our attorneys to stop working on the cases. I’ll get back at them by tomorrow.

No one can harm us without leaving a scar. I would leave him with many scars if he dares to touch us in Rivers State, and we have already started that. This is a vote for our people. You have now admitted to us that you are anti-party. We’ll demonstrate what an anti-party is. We have already caught them in the act.

The Etche people were asked by Governor Wike to return home, get ready by completing the remaining information on their Permanent Voters Card with INEC, and cast their votes for all PDP candidates running in the State. The governor highlighted that the upcoming election is a struggle that must be fought.

The governor emphasized that the PDP in Rivers is a strong team that is ready for the election and has what it takes to ensure that it is peaceful and that all of its candidates are guaranteed votes.

Governor Wike continued by expressing his gratitude to the Etche people for attending the event in such large numbers and demonstrating their unwavering support for the PDP in Rivers State.

He emphasized that, in all material respects, the PDP-run State government had fulfilled every promise made to them since 2015.

These include the construction of more than eight important roads, the opening of a Rivers State University campus nearby, and the appointment of their son as vice chancellor of the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education.

In order to build on the successes of his government, Governor Wike pleaded with them to elect Sir Siminialayi Fubara as his successor.

Additionally, Fubara guaranteed that workers would continue to receive regular salary and that State-owned property would never be sold to the cronies of the powerful.

The PDP candidate for governor claimed that his expertise and comprehension of governor Wike’s new Rivers Vision, which acts as the framework for his administration, will ensure his victory in the poll on March 11.
