The N500 scam accusation against staff members of the leadership of the National Assembly, according to the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), is untrue.

However, Comrade Sunday Sabiyi, President of the PASAN (NASS branch), has refuted the accusation. In a statement, he called the claims absurd, unfounded, false, and baseless, adding that they were the product of the report’s authors’ fantasies.

The statement read, “We use this medium to state unequivocally that the said story is ridiculous, unfounded, false, and baseless and remains the figment of the report’s creators’ imagination.”

“It must be mentioned that nine disgruntled union members were suspended by the union in a general congress due to a claim that the union’s land had been sold while the previous Executive was in charge.

It should be remembered that a committee was formed to look into the aforementioned allegation, and that committee’s report to the Union’s congress revealed that the suspended members had been found guilty.

On the basis of a claim that the Union’s land was sold while the previous Executive was in charge, nine disgruntled union members were suspended by the Union in a general congress, it must be noted.

Recall that a commission was formed to look into the aforementioned allegation, and that after submitting its report to the Union’s congress, the suspended members were found guilty.

Following another free and fair election in which the incumbent Chairman, Sunday Sabiyi, won by a landslide, the nine suspended Executive members decided to petition the police after more than two years of their suspension as an afterthought and an attempt to divert attention of the staff with baseless allegations.

However, the union has decided to use its internal procedure within the trade union precinct to look into the allegations in the interest of peace and harmonious working relationships in the National Assembly, as the National body continues to be the only authorized apex body of the union that can audit the books of any of its chapters.

Therefore, Chairman Comrade Sabiyi hereby issues a call to all union members to maintain composure and observance of the law as he continues to be steadfast, committed, and focused on building on the accomplishments of his led Executive team in carrying out his duty to the best interests of staff, particularly now that he has a renewed mandate that he holds in both hands.
