75 travellers rescued from bandits’ cave in Kaduna

The Kaduna State Police Command has rescued 75 travellers who were allegedly abducted by suspected bandits and held successful a cave adjacent Folwaya Village successful Birnin Gwari Local Government Area.

The victims, including men, women and children, were travelling successful commercialized vehicles erstwhile they were intercepted by equipped men and taken into the forest.

Police spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, said the rescue followed accusation provided by the Birnin Gwari subdivision of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).

The incidental occurred astatine astir 5:30 p.m. connected Wednesday, August 19, 2026.

Hassan said constabulary officers from the Birnin Gwari Area Command were rapidly deployed to the country aft receiving the report.

“The Kaduna State Police Command received credible accusation from the NURTW, Birnin Gwari Branch, that immoderate Fulani men, women, and children travelling successful commercialized buses were abducted by chartless equipped men wielding AK-47 rifles and different blase weapons astatine Folwaya Village, adjacent Birnin Gwari,” helium said.

“On sighting the well-armed constabulary operatives, the abductors fled, abandoning their captives, who were successfully rescued unharmed,” Hassan added.
