Lagos’s Itamaga Plank Market is home to the Fire Engulfs Shop.
A fire outbreak has been reported at the Itamaga Plank market in Ikorodu, Lagos State, according to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).
In a statement released on Wednesday, the organization’s Head of the Public Affairs Unit, Nosa Okunbor, stated that upon receiving distress calls, the Agbowa Base’s Lion Squad was promptly activated.
When they arrived at the market on Wednesday at around 4:30 AM, they saw that one of the stores was completely destroyed by fire.
But following a comprehensive examination, the agency concluded that a power surge was the cause of the incident.
A portion of the statement said, “The quick intervention and coordinated efforts of the LRT and LASG Fire & Rescue Service ensured the fire was contained and quickly subdued.”
According to LASEMA, the shop was completely destroyed by fire, resulting in a partial loss of commodities and belongings.
However, it also stated that there were no injuries or fatalities as a result of the incident.
The fire had been totally put out and subsided by the time this report was submitted.
The organization also stated that residents were educated on how to properly utilize electric appliances and that emergency personnel had secured the entire area.
