ASUU suspends UNICROSS strike after Gov Otu’s intervention

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, University of Cross River State, UNICROSS, branch, has suspended the onslaught enactment it embarked upon connected May 19, 2026, pursuing the involution of Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu.

The determination was taken on Tuesday at an exigency legislature of the national held astatine the university’s Calabar campus, ending weeks of concern enactment that disrupted world activities.

The suspension followed a bid of engagements involving the authorities government, the assemblage absorption and ASUU enactment aimed astatine resolving the lingering dispute.

Last week, Governor Otu held a closed-door gathering with the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Francisca Bassey, members of the assemblage absorption and ASUU leaders, including the Calabar Zonal Coordinator, Dr. Ikechukwu Igwenyi, and the subdivision chairperson, Dr. Patrick Ushie.
