The Federal High Court successful Abuja on Monday heard caller arguments successful the suit seeking the deregistration of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, and different governmental parties, with defendants asking the tribunal to enactment proceedings pending the determination of an entreaty earlier the Court of Appeal.
Justice Peter Lifu subsequently adjourned the substance to May 18, 2026, aft proceeding applications for enactment of proceedings and joinder.
The suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/2637/2026, was instituted by the Incorporated Trustees of the National Forum of Former Legislators against the Independent National Electoral Commission and respective governmental parties.
At the proceedings, counsel for the sixth suspect (Accord), Musibau Adetunbi SAN, urged the tribunal to suspend further proceeding successful the matter, arguing that an exertion relating to the proceedings had already been filed earlier the Court of Appeal.
Adetunbi, who cited Supreme Court authorities, argued that a little tribunal could not proceed to entertain arguments connected issues already pending earlier a higher court.
