EFCC arrests 19 suspected cyber fraudsters in Lagos estate

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested 19 suspected cybercrime fraudsters pursuing a sting cognition astatine Applewood Estate, Orchid Road, Lekki, Lagos State.

The anti-graft bureau said the cognition targeted individuals suspected of defrauding unsuspecting victims done acquisition cards, cryptocurrencies and planetary wealth transfers portion impersonating different people.

The cognition was conducted astatine astir 5am connected Monday by operatives of the EFCC’s Lagos Directorate 1, who initially arrested 21 suspects and recovered 5 exotic cars.

According to the commission, the cognition followed surveillance and reconnaissance of the suspects’ activities.

In a connection signed by the EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, the committee said a young pistillate who allegedly attempted to alert the suspects by making telephone calls was temporarily held, and her telephone was confiscated until the cognition ended.
