FG launches probe into 37 deaths in NSCDC custody, suspends 21

Following the deaths of 37 individuals held successful the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Niger State Command, connected suspicion of amerciable mining, the national authorities has constituted a ten-member committee to analyse the incident.

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, disclosed the determination on Saturday, pursuing a directive by President Bola Tinubu for a comprehensive, transparent probe into the incident, which occurred on Thursday.

According to a connection by the Minister, the national authorities directed the contiguous suspension of each officers progressive successful the incidental pending the decision of the committee’s investigation.

The suspensions affected 21 officers, including the Niger State Commandant of the Corps, presumption guards, arresting officers, and defender work personnel.
