Anwar Ibrahim, the prime minister of Malaysia, claimed on Friday that he had a virtual meeting with Elon Musk to discuss supplies of cheap internet services as well as Tesla’s entry into his nation.

Tesla will construct a head office, service center, and showrooms in the central state of Selangor this year, according to Anwar, who is also the finance minister.

After a 25-minute video chat, he released a statement saying, “I welcome the company’s interest and investment decisions in Malaysia as well as Elon Musk’s willingness to come to Malaysia.”

Tesla’s bid to import battery-powered electric vehicles into Malaysia was granted in March by Malaysia.

Anwar stated that Malaysia would “continue to strengthen” its commitment to achieving “net-zero emissions” by the year 2050.

Additionally, he said that in order to offer cheap internet connections in Malaysia, particularly in remote places, he had turned to Elon Musk’s space exploration business SpaceX.
