NLC declares indefinite strike in FCT

The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has declared an indefinite onslaught successful Abuja implicit unresolved disputes involving the promotion and vocation progression of teachers.

The onslaught takes effect from Wednesday, October 7, 2026, pursuing the expiration of a seven-day ultimatum issued to the FCT Administration, FCTA.

The NLC had issued the ultimatum to the FCTA connected September 8, 2026, demanding the solution of long-standing payment disputes affecting FCT teachers.

In a communique signed by the NLC FCT Council Chairman, Comrade Knabayi S. Adalo, the national rejected the FCTA’s effect to the ultimatum, describing it arsenic “ambiguous, dismissive and wholly unacceptable”.

At the centre of the quality is the FCTA’s implementation of a “vacancy clause,” which conditions teacher promotions connected disposable vacancies.
