The Catholic Diocese of Nsukka has distanced itself from partisan politics, insisting that comments made by the Bishop of Nsukka, regarding the demolition of shops astatine Ogige Market, were portion of his pastoral work and not a governmental statement.
In a connection issued on Thursday by the Director of Communications of the Diocese, Fr Emmanuel Asadu, the Church accused Mr Reuben Onyishi, Senior Special Assistant to Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah, of dragging the Bishop into a governmental controversy.
According to the Diocese, the Bishop spoke portion attending the burial of catechist John Attah, who reportedly died aft battling a changeable pursuing the demolition of his store and those of different members of his household astatine Ogige Market, Nsukka.
