Oguns pension commitment reaches N157.9BN as Abiodun releases fresh N5.83BN for retirees

The Ogun State Government says it has committed ₦157.9 cardinal to pension-related payments since May 29, 2019, pursuing the merchandise of an further ₦5.83 cardinal for gratuity and Additional Pension Benefits to retirees.

The latest release, approved astatine the September 24, 2026 gathering of the Joint Accounts Allocation Committee (JAAC), is portion of the administration’s efforts to wide outstanding status obligations and amended the payment of elder citizens who served the state.

The Head of Service, Mr Olanrewaju Saka, said ₦4,906,950,967.98 of the funds would beryllium utilized to wage gratuity to Local Government pensioners who retired successful 2022 and State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) retirees who retired successful 2021.

The remaining ₦918,596,179.16, helium said, was earmarked for Additional Pension Benefits to eligible retirees nether the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS).

Saka said the latest involution reflected Governor Dapo Abiodun’s committedness to progressively addressing outstanding status obligations and ensuring that retirees who served the authorities meritoriously were treated with dignity.

He added that the medication had released ₦4.12 cardinal successful Additional Pension Benefits to CPS retirees since the opening of 2026.
