Osun Assembly moves to amend UNIOSUN establishment law

The Osun State House of Assembly has commenced moves to amend the instrumentality establishing Osun State University, UNIOSUN, 20 years aft its establishment.

The Speaker of the House, Adewale Egbedun, disclosed this during plenary on Wednesday, pursuing the receipt of a missive from Governor Ademola Adeleke seeking the amendment of the Executive Bill.

The letter, dated July 27, 2026, was presented to the lawmakers during plenary.

DAILY POST gathered that the information of the measure had been delayed by activities surrounding the 2026 Osun State governorship predetermination and related matters.

Presenting the argumentation thrust of the bill, the Chairman of the House Committee connected Education, Sikiru Bajepade, said the projected amendment would widen the tenure of the Vice-Chancellor of Osun State University by 2 years.

According to Bajepade, the amendment would supply a model for grants and scholarships for students of the institution.
