Police arrest suspected cultists in Delta community, recover guns

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command person arrested 8 suspected cultists astatine Amukpe, successful Sapele Local Government Area of the state.

The operatives recovered 3 locally fabricated pistols, unrecorded ammunition and different exhibits from the suspects.

The suspects were identified arsenic Lucky Naset (30), Ochuko Midwest (27), Samuel Oghene (29), Michael Mmadu (35), Dennis Philip (28), Goodluck Onujenya (30), Ovie Royal (25) and Divine Otemu (22).

They were arrested connected July 17, 2026, according to a connection by Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe.

Parts of the connection read, “A thorough hunt of the hideout led to the betterment of 3 locally fabricated pistols, six unrecorded cartridges, 8 rounds of unrecorded ammunition of antithetic calibres, 2 axes, 2 suspected cannabis grinders, 1 vessel containing a suspected illicit substance, and different incriminating exhibits.

“Preliminary probe indicates that the suspects are linked to cult-related activities wrong the Sapele axis.

“Investigation is ongoing to apprehend different members of the syndicate and retrieve further weapons.”
