Reps approve extension of 2025 capital budget

The House of Representatives has approved the hold of the implementation of the superior constituent of the 2025 fund from June 30th, 2026 to September 30th, 2026.

The support followed an exigency sitting on Monday.

House Leader, Julius Ihonvbere, led the statement connected the wide principles of the measure seeking to widen the lifespan of the superior expenditure of the 2025 budget.

Ihonvbere stressed that important funds released to Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, MDAs, remained unspent owed to administrative bottlenecks, procurement delays and implementation challenges.

According to him, the extended model aims to forestall the abandonment of captious infrastructural projects crossed the country, let clip for ongoing projects to beryllium finished, and settee outstanding obligations.

The announcement of the exigency sitting was issued by the Acting Clerk of the House of Representatives, Ibrahim Sidi, successful a memo sent to each members on Sunday.

He said the sitting was pursuant to Order Five, Rule 2 sub-section 2 of the Standing Orders of the House of Representatives.
