Rule of Law and Accountability Advocacy Centre, RULAAC, has instituted 4 cardinal rights enforcement suits against the anti-kidnapping portion of the Imo State Police Command, popularly known arsenic Tiger Base, implicit allegations of torture, arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance of children, forced labour, extortion and extrajudicial killings.
The cases, filed earlier the Imo State High Court successful Owerri connected July 21, 2026, impact 8 victims and are scheduled for proceeding connected August 5, 2026.
According to tribunal documents, the suits sanction the Nigeria Police Force, the Inspector-General of Police, the Police Service Commission, the Commissioner of Police successful Imo State, the Commander of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, ACP Oladimeji Odeyeyiwa, and respective officers attached to the portion arsenic respondents.
One of the suits alleges that respective women were arrested implicit accusations linked to their husbands’ alleged activities and subsequently detained for prolonged periods.
The applicants assertion they were subjected to forced labour, including cooking, cleaning and construction-related tasks, portion immoderate were separated from their young children, whose whereabouts stay unknown.
Another suit alleges that a nursing parent was separated from her babe aft apprehension and subjected to carnal assault, coercion and unlawful withdrawal of wealth from her slope account.
