SERAP demands probe over N1.3bn allocation to ‘non-existent’ presidential council

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP, has urged Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, to explicate the inclusion of implicit N1.3 cardinal successful the 2026 Appropriation Act for a statesmanlike assembly which the Presidency has reportedly denied its existence.

In a Freedom of Information petition dated July 4, 2026, and signed by SERAP’s Deputy Director, Kolawole Oluwadare, the organisation demanded certified copies of each documents relating to the support of the N1,302,978,784 allocation made to the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, PFIPC, besides identified arsenic the Presidential Economic Advisory Council.

SERAP besides called connected the enactment of the National Assembly to instantly activate its law oversight powers nether Sections 88 and 89 of the Constitution to analyse the circumstances surrounding the allocation, place those liable for immoderate irregularities, and find whether nationalist funds were appropriated for an entity without ineligible existence.
