Three men in court over N6.8m ‘spiritual soap’ fraud

Three men, Waheed Bojesomo, Olajide Olakanmi and Olayinka Oludayo, were arraigned earlier an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, on Tuesday for allegedly swindling a spiritual seeker of N6.8 million.

Defendants, Bojesomo, 53, Olakanmi, 59, and Oludayo, 46, are facing a three-count complaint of conspiracy, fraud and stealing.

They, however, pleaded not blameworthy to the charges.

The prosecutor, ASP Sikiru Opaleye, told the tribunal that the defendants conspired to perpetrate the enactment of fraud.

Opaleye alleged that the defendants, betwixt 2022 and October 2025, astatine Apatere village, Ibadan, with intent to defraud, obtained N6.8 cardinal from 1 Muritala Abiodun nether the pretence of preparing spiritual soap for him.

He alleged that the defendants knew their assertion to beryllium false, stole and fraudulently converted the wealth belonging to Abiodun to their ain use.

Opaleye said the offences contravened Sections 390(9), 419 and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Olabisi Ogunkanmi, admitted the defendants to bail successful the sum of N2.5 cardinal each, with 2 sureties each successful similar sum.
