When trying to save his brother from kidnappers in Imo, a chemist was shot and killed.
In Imo State, a chemist and businessman named Mr. Henry Ejiogu Ogbuji was assassinated by gunmen who may have been kidnappers.
On Friday night, February 23, 2024, at Irete Autonomous Community of Owerri West Council Area in the state, Henry, a chemist who sold pharmaceuticals at Owerri Plaza, was shot and killed.
Eyewitnesses said that the alleged kidnappers broke into Mr. Sunny Ogbuji’s home on Obinwanne Street in Umuohia Irete, Owerri West LGA, and took him without permission.
It was learned that Henry had learned of his elder brother’s kidnapping upon returning from his business trip.
He made the decision to pursue the kidnappers after learning of the situation, running along the Umungada junction route that leads to the Owerri/Onitsha Motorway.
Henry was shot in the chest by the escaping kidnappers, who turned on him as he got closer to the car carrying his older brother. Henry died instantly, according to accounts.
At that moment, his older brother managed to get away from his kidnappers.
ASP Henry Okoye, a spokesperson for the State Police Command, confirmed the occurrence on Saturday and stated that the command is investigating.
While stating that an investigation is still underway, he gave his word that those responsible would be found and brought to justice.
The PPRO revealed that the deceased person’s body has been placed at the Federal Medical Center’s (FMC) mortuary in OwerrI.
