Immigration calls the wife who tore her husband’s passport at the airport in Lagos.
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has invited the woman for interrogation and is looking into the destruction of the nation’s passport by the woman.
In a widely shared video, the female traveler is shown at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos smashing what appears to be her husband’s Nigerian Standard Passport.
Although the rationale behind her actions is unknown, NIS spokesman Kenneth Udo stated in a statement on Monday that the conduct is illegal.
Following the viral video of a female passenger damaging a Nigerian Standard Passport at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, on social media, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) opened an official investigation, according to the statement.
The person has been located and encouraged to participate in additional research. If the accusations prove true, she would have violated Section 10(b) of the Immigration Act 2015 (as amended), and she would have been subject to the penalties specified in Section 10(h) of the same Act.
“The Nigeria Immigration Service is unwavering in its dedication to safeguarding the integrity and dignity of the country’s legal instruments, as well as to upholding the provisions of the Immigration Act in the interest of national security.”
