Police Detain Lagos Nurse Over Woman’s Death During Butt Lift Surgery
Following the death of a 36-year-old woman identified only as Abiola, agents of the Lagos State Police Command have taken a nurse into custody in the Lekki region of the state.
According to a statement released by the police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, on Wednesday, the deceased’s driver reported the event to the Maroko Police Division.
According to Hundeyin, the driver informed him that his employer, a Diamond Estate resident in Sangotedo-Lekki, who he had taken to a clinic in Lekki Phase 1 for a Brazilian Butt Lift—a cosmetic treatment intended to enhance her figure—had passed away.
“The clinic owner instructed a nurse to give Abiola the injection as soon as we arrived,” he stated. A few moments later, the woman passed out and began to pant for air, causing commotion to break out.
“The driver rushed Abiola to another hospital in Lekki Phase 1 out of desperation for help, but the staff there confirmed her death.”
The deceased was moved to a public morgue for an autopsy after police carefully collected evidence at the scene, examined, and took pictures of her bones, according to Hundeyin.
He verified that the concerned nurse had been placed under arrest and that Adegoke Fayoade, the commissioner of police, had requested that the terrifying event be looked into.
