An aristocrat and her partner were detained by British police after going missing in early January with their newborn child, but the search for the child is still ongoing.

On February 27th, a member of the public saw Constance Marten, 35, and Mark Gordon, 48, in Brighton, southern England.

According to police, the couple was detained there on suspicion of neglecting their child. They continue to be detained.

An “urgent search effort” is being conducted for their kid, who authorities say was born probably one to two days before fleeing without getting medical help.

A representative for the UK’s Metropolitan Police force told CNN on Tuesday that efforts are still being made to find the baby. “We would want anyone with knowledge to contact in if they have anything they think can help,” the statement continued.

Early in January, police started looking for the couple and the infant. They issued a number of pleas and offered a £10,000 ($12,090) reward for information leading to their finding.

Detective Superintendent Lewis Basford of the Met’s East Area Command stated last week that more than 630 hours of security camera material had been examined and that police had fielded more than 350 calls from the general public.

I want to emphasize that we are not doing this and devoting so much time and energy to identifying the family in order to cause trouble or interfere, said Basford. We genuinely care about Constance, Mark, and the infant’s health and wellbeing, and it is our responsibility to make sure everything is alright for them.

Marten is the daughter of movie and music producer and aristocrat Napier Marten. Napier Marten stated that Constance was “much, much loved, whatever the circumstances” in an audio message to his daughter that was leaked by the UK news site The Independent last month. He also stated that the family was “very worried” for Constance and her child’s wellbeing.

“Dear Constance, even if we’re still apart right now, I stand ready, as I always have and as the family always has, to take whatever steps are necessary to ensure your safe return to us.

I implore you to find a means to turn yourself in to the police along with your wee (little) one as soon as you can so that you and they can both be protected. Only then, he continued, can the healing and rehabilitation process start, no matter how long it may take or how challenging it may be.

According to police investigations, Marten and Gordon were the occupants of a vehicle that caught fire on a roadway in the English town of Bolton on January 5.

According to police, who opened a missing persons inquiry, the couple were not present at the scene, and the majority of their possessions were burned in the fire.

In the days that followed their disappearance, some in the public claimed to have seen the pair.

Police tracked the couple’s activities through different UK cities and towns using sightings and security camera footage after the couple and their infant had safely departed the roadway.

On January 7, the couple was spotted in London leaving a taxi with a stroller and an orange messenger bag while wearing masks.

The couple paid cash for a variety of products, including a two-man tent, two sleeping bags, and two pillows, which led detectives to believe the couple had been rough sleeping or camping during a time of chilly weather.
