‘Plan To Upturn Gov Election Results In Abia, Enugu,’ the Labour Party promises to resist.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia and Enugu states is allegedly planning to rig the results of the governorship and state assembly elections in both states, according to the Labour Party (LP).

The LP National Chairman, Julius Abure, claimed in a statement he signed on Sunday that the governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, is complicit in an effort to overturn his party’s victory in the states.

In addition, he charged that Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the governor of Enugu State, was seeking to sway the results in the PDP’s favor against the LP’s candidate, Chijioke Edeoga, who he claimed was ahead in the majority of local government races that had been publicly reported as of yet.

According to Abure, despite a directive from the election body asking their staff to travel to Umuahia to collate results for the election, which are in favor of Labour’s Alex Otti, INEC staff are being held hostage at the Obingwa Local Govt by Governor Ikpeazu and his cronies to rewrite the results already compiled by officials.

According to him, the actions of PDP are similar to “the criminality orchestrated against our presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, during the presidential election on February 25,” and neither are new.

The LP Chairman requested the Inspector General of Police to step in and oversee the movement of all election-related materials to Umuahia so that the integrity of the vote and the safety of the officials in charge could be ensured.

He claimed that if this is not resolved, they will be left with no other option but to call on Obidients all over the nation to seize the streets all over the country.

Attempts to tamper with the results of the governorship elections in Abia and Enugu will be resisted.

We are now on day two of the ongoing gubernatorial and state house assembly elections, and from what we have seen so far in the nation and heard from our party members on the ground, the criminal activity planned against our presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, on February 25 is hardly dissimilar.

We are currently witnessing a situation where the incumbent governor of the state of Abia is actively engaging in an effort to void the election victory of the Labour Party candidate, Alex Otti, in the obviously won governor of Abia State.

The similar scenario is also taking place in Enugu state, where Chijioke Edeoga of the Labour Party is currently leading in almost all of the local governments that have been announced.

We are currently witnessing a situation where the incumbent governor of the state of Abia is actively engaging in an effort to void the election victory of the Labour Party candidate, Alex Otti, in the obviously won governor of Abia State.

The similar scenario is also taking place in Enugu state, where Chijioke Edeoga of the Labour Party is currently leading in almost all of the local governments that have been announced.

In spite of an order from the election body instructing its personnel to travel to Umuahia to consolidate results for the election, which is in favor of Labour’s Alex Otti, Governor Ikpeazu and his cronies are holding INEC staff hostage at the Obingwa Local Govt.

One robbery too many, this. The PDP has been exposed as acting in the most heinous manner and with complete disdain for the rights of the populace, when Nigerians are still trying to recover from the brutal rape of a democratic process during the presidential election last month by the centrally-placed ruling party.

We thus appeal to the Inspector General of Police to step in and oversee the transport of all election-related materials to Umuahia, where the integrity of the vote and the safety of the administrators can be ensured.

Ikpeazu is unable to rig elections in his local government because he was defeated in the senatorial race on April 25.

Similar to this, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, who terribly lost the last election in the Enugu North Senatorial zone, is currently faking the results from the zone with the assistance of some tainted INEC employees and Police in order to ensure that PDP is re-elected in the state against the wishes of the electorate.

We have undergone in the last several weeks what no other political party in the nation has because we believe in due process, but it seems that this is taken for granted. But, we might not have much patience left.

If this issue is not resolved, we will be forced to mobilize OBIdients across the nation to seize control of the streets and take over the entire nation.

We are gathering evidence of violations to expose all democratic criminals, having specifically examined the rigging of the Edo State House Assembly Elections and other affected States.

We have decided to oppose rigging going forward and to take to the streets to retrieve our stolen mandates insofar as we continue to be a law-abiding political party that carefully abides by the electoral laws of our country.
