Renard Is Headed To France After resigning as a Saudi coach, a woman gets a job

According to a source who spoke to AFP on Tuesday, Herve Renard has quit as coach of the Saudi Arabian team and will likely replace him as head coach of the France women’s team.

The Green Falcons’ memorable World Cup group stage win over Argentina in November was led by 54-year-old Frenchman Renard.

Before this year’s Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, the two-time Africa Cup of Nations champion was tipped as the favorite to replace Corinne Diacre.

According to a source at the Saudi Arabian Football Association, “Renard resigned and Saudi FA accepted it.”

His final game in charge of Saudi Arabia is tonight’s encounter against Bolivia.

“We attempted to talk him out of it, but he was adamant about going home to head up a national squad.

We are powerless to stop him from realizing his goal.

Diacre was fired as France coach earlier this month, just months before the competition, after her position was weakened as a result of a player uprising.

Before beginning their World Cup quest against Jamaica in Sydney on July 23, France has four friendlies left.
